FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Questions? We've Got Clear Answers.
Everything you need to know about our certification, requirements, costs, and recognition — straight, simple, and transparent.
Eligibility & Requirements
Not always. We assess total competence: experience + training + demonstrated ability.
10+ years of proven ministry leadership can qualify you even without formal degrees.
Each case reviewed individually.
We verify content and accreditation, not name recognition. If your institution meets our standards, your degree counts. Credentials from any country are accepted.
Yes. We assess your total experience, not current employment. Transitional seasons or career changes don't disqualify you.
No. CIBST certification is professional credentialing, not ordination. Many members hold both.
Ordination is denominational; certification validates professional competence.
No minimum or maximum age. We evaluate competence and experience, not birth year.
Absolutely. CIBST certifies ministry leaders globally with members across 150+ countries. Non-English documents may require translation.

CIBST is a chartered professional body, not an educational institution.
Traditional academic accreditation therefore does not apply.
However, CIBST follows internationally recognized ISO-aligned credentialing standards.

CIBST members are certified across 150+ countries in Africa, Europe,
Asia, North America, Latin America and Australia.
Membership & Renewal
Certification is a one-time professional assessment and credential award.
Membership is an ongoing status that maintains your credential and provides benefits.
CPD (Continuing Professional Development) requires 12 hours per year.
Members earn CPD through webinars, conferences, courses, reading reflections, or ministry training.
Members receive reminders at 6 and 9 months. If requirements are not completed by renewal,
credentials move to inactive status until CPD is completed.
Yes. Membership can be placed on inactive status.
You may reactivate anytime by paying the renewal fee and a $50 reactivation fee.

curriculum structure, theological integrity and student outcomes.
Approval typically takes 4–8 weeks.
No. Partnership is free. Optional revenue-sharing models may exist for jointly developed programs.
Yes. Partner institutions maintain full independence over curriculum and theology.
